GPON ONT Solution
Bridging last mile gap in broadband access in a cost effective manner, has been a challenging problem for many years. ADSL and VDSL technologies have limited bandwidth and are not able to support full spectrum of streaming video applications. Of all the last mile technologies that are currently available, service providers seem to prefer FTTx (FTTH and FTTB) delivered through Gigabit-Capable Passive Optical Network (GPON) transport. GPON allows carriers to roll out a wide variety of revenue generating services without worrying about bandwidth limits of the underlying last mile transport. ITU-T in conjunction with FSAN is trying to accelerate the GPON deployment via G98x standardization process and sponsor interoperability tests between various Central Office Optical Line Termination (OLT) and Customer Premises Equipment Optical Network Termination (ONT/ONU) equipment vendors. ITU-T G984.4 standard defines the ONT Management and Control Interface (OMCI) specification to facilitate OLT and ONT vendors to develop standards compliant interoperable equipment.

OCS GPON ONT solution is a total software solution which has been integrated with many GPON SoC reference design.
